A St. Patrick’s Day Pint of Guinness the Reward for 10 Days Up Badger Mountain
St. Patrick’s day was the impetus for a goal to make up for NOT being true to my New Year’s Resolution of getting into better condition. What better incentive to hike up Badger 10 days-in-a-row then to have a self-rewarded pint of Guinness to work towards, apparently for me, none as I completed the 10th hike this morning!

Since 2008 I have enjoyed over 250 round-trips on every trail Badger Mountain has and I thought that was pretty good but there are hikers that make that accomplishment minor in comparison. I have seen many 65 year old and older hikers with 50+ pounds of weight strapped on their backpacks as they train for much bigger mountains and serious hiking. Janet is a lady I met that goes up Badger multiple times in a day on a whim and this week I encountered some acquaintances that have hiked Badger everyday since January 1st, now that’s keeping a New Year’s resolution! If you would like to know more there is ‘Friends of Badger’ for maps, pictures, events and more to get you up to speed on this great community resource that many of your friends and neighbors utilize everyday.
