Black Cat Bone Playing Ice Harbor Brewery Saturday & Thunder on the Island Aug. 7 – Local Band Profile
Tri-Cities Blues band Black Cat Bone will play this Saturday from 7:30 to 10:30 at Ice Harbor Brewery (downtown location at 206 N. Benton St.) after “Heal With a Kiss” to remember victims of cancer. Catch them again at Thunder on the Island (Clover Island Inn) Aug. 7.
Q: How did you come up with your band’s name?
A: Old blues catch phrase, means good luck charm.
Q: What’s the lineup?
A: It’s a 4-piece set, I play guitar and sing, then we have D.B. “Stix” Thompson on drums, Charlie Doll on bass and Doug Wagner on the saxophone.
Q: How long have you all been playing together?
A: The original Black Cat Bone formed in 1998 and played for about 10 years then we separated a bunch and got back together a bunch, officially reforming last spring with the new lineup.
Q: How do you describe your music?
A: Blues with rock feel. Upbeat, yet not too fast to dance to.
Q: Anything you’d like to say about your upcoming shows?
A: Ice harbor on the 13th and Thomas O’niels on the 20th
Q: Other than just playing music did you have any alternative goals?
A: I started playing music as a teenager, it’s always been a life long passion of mine. Why Blues? I guess my heart just leaned on blues.
Q: Who were your influences?
A: Deep Purple, The Mandrakes, Led Zeppelin, Duwalsh, all the old blues bands.
