Easiest Way to Help During Tragedies: Give Blood
Kelsey, the phlebotomist at Physicians Immediate Care on the corner of Jadwin & Torbett in Richland. She drew my blood Saturday at a special event marking the 30th anniversary of the clinic. That reminded me, whenever tragedy strikes (like last week’s events in Boston and West, Texas) it’s a GREAT IDEA to donate blood.
A long time ago I learned that whenever tragedy strikes the blood supplies of the entire region are wiped out. Then neighboring states and cities need to share their blood supplies, creating shortages across a wide area.
Extra donations anywhere in America help counter the ripple effect and makes sure people across the country have the life-saving blood they need. It’s a great way to help out after any tragedy.
p.s. I was a real man while getting stuck with the needle… case you were wondering.
