Real Story Behind “American Woman” by “The Guess Who”
If you were listening to The Bob & Tom Show this morning and heard the interview with Jeff Dunham, you heard the conversation about Canadian rock group “The Guess Who” and their hit song, “American Woman.”
A story was told that the song was never really “written.” A member of the band broke a guitar string and while everyone was waiting for him to replace it, someone else started playing the famous riff that begins the song. The remaining members of the band just started jamming to the riff and having a good time while entertaining the crowd until they could return to their set.
