As long as the Rolling Stones are doing a victory lap in honor of their 50th anniversary, it makes sense that, before they’re barely out of the starting blocks, they revisit another important part of their illustrious past: they got in trouble with the law.

However, this time around has nothing to do with public urination or drugs or naked women or unpaid taxes. Apparently, their two-and-a-half-hour show at London’s O2 Arena on Sunday (Nov. 25) ended at 11:00PM local time, 30 minutes over the 10:30PM curfew. For their efforts, the band was fined £200,000 ($320,500) by the local city council. We suspect they will have no difficulty in finding the cash.

Curfew-breaking has become a serious problem for classic rockers in London this year. In July, Bruce Springsteen got into trouble when his concert in Hyde Park ran past its allotted time. Springsteen was finishing up a cover of ‘Twist and Shout’ with special guest Paul McCartney when police pulled the plug on the show. These youngsters and their rock and/or roll music.

There is no truth to the rumor that, in honor of their recent trouble, Keith Richards is rewriting a lyric to his classic song about his outlaw past as, “I will use a walker before they make me run.”
