Slow Down: Speed Cushions Installed on West Court Street in Pasco

If you haven't driven in Pasco recently, take notice. Slow down. Speed cushions, otherwise known as a traffic calming measure, have been installed.

The New Speed Cushions Have Been Added on Court Street

In an effort to get motorists to slow down, the speed humps were installed along a portion of the road where the speed limit is 25-miles-per-hour. According to the City of Pasco Government:

The speed limit was changed in early 2025, and City Council approved additional traffic calming measures in early 2026.

The City has installed the speed cushions to reduce speeding and street racing, issues both Kennewick and Richland are addressing as well.

Speed cushions have been installed on West Court Street (between the I-182 bridges and Road 96) and North Road 96 (between West Argent Road and Balfour Court).

Speed cushions are different from speed humps or bumps, in that the design creates gaps in the pavement to allow for emergency vehicles to travel over them without much delay, yet still forcing standard vehicles to slow their speed.

Watch for the signs. There's nothing worse, than driving over a speed hump when you're NOT prepared for it. Watch for these newly installed speed cushions. Be prepared.
